First Day of Classes – Spring 2016

Wednesday, January 20 marks the first day of classes for the Spring 2016 term at Bridgewater State University. The Brothers of Sigma Chi took a moment today to reflect on our goals for the academic year and renewed our commitments to making them a reality.

Thus far we have made promising strides in raising our $20,000 goal for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, currently coming in at just over $8,000 when Vincent Fernald’s donation matching gift from Apple Inc. comes through. Keep an eye on our DerbyChallenge site for the big number to appear! We also remain committed to cumulatively serving thousands of hours in community service hours this year, as well as strategically positioning the Chapter for success in the years to come.

What are you most looking forward to this semester? Let us know in a comment below!

Theta Zeta Supports the Shamrock Foundation

Since the beginning of the NBA regular season, Theta Zeta has been volunteering their time at Boston Celtics home games at the TD Garden on behalf of the Shamrock Foundation. Running the Foundation’s 50/50 raffle, Theta Zeta helps the Foundation raise thousands of dollars for the vital community action the Foundation is responsible for.

The mission of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation is to extend the reach of the Celtics championship legacy into our community through programs that directly benefit children in need. To do this, the Foundation applies a team mentality – much like that of the 17-time world championship Celtics – and relies on key partnerships with New England-based non-profit organizations that provide vital services and support to youth.

Head over to their website,, to see why we find it so rewarding to support the Shamrock Foundation weekly!

Theta Zeta @ Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Theta Zeta showed their support for breast cancer research and awareness while volunteering at Boston’s 2015 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Assisting with setup, distributing water, and directing participants and supporters were a few of the ways brothers helped out. Check out Susan G. Komen for the Cure Massachusetts for more information on Komen, and to sign up for next season’s race!

Alumni Dinner, Thanks!

The active brothers of Theta Zeta extend a warm thanks to our chapter’s alumni who came out to share stories of their personal journey with Theta Zeta and Sigma Chi. Seeing and hearing from you during rush week imparts a message more vivid and more meaningful than we undergraduates could ever do on our own. Morgan—our Sweetheart—deserves a special thanks for preparing a lovely meal for us to share and adding your own account of how special Theta Zeta and Sigma Chi are to all of us. In Hoc Signo Vinces!
